Q: How do I become a member?
Becoming a member is easy. You can purchase your membership online before you visit, or in person on the day of your visit at any of the Newport Mansions properties. You can also call our Membership Associate (401) 847-1000 ext. 111.
Q: How long is my membership valid?
Memberships are valid for one full year from the month of purchase.
Q: What are the benefits of membership and how often can I use it?
Membership gives you free, unlimited access to regular guided and audio tours at all Newport Mansions properties.
Specialty tours, like the Servants Life Tour at The Elms and the Beneath the Breakers Tour, are not included in your membership. However, members receive a discounted price for those tours. Q: How long will it take for my membership materials to arrive?
You should expect your permanent Membership materials to arrive 2-3 weeks after your purchase.
Q: Are my membership benefits immediately effective?
If you purchase your membership onsite at the Newport Mansions the day of your visit, you will receive a temporary membership card that can be used immediately. If you purchase your new membership online, you will receive an automatic email with a PDF copy of your temporary membership card, which can be used right away for admission at any of the Newport Mansion properties.
Q: How many names can be on a membership?
An Individual Membership is for 1 named adult. A Dual Membership is for 2 named adults living at the same address. The Household Membership is for 2 named adults and all children under the age of 18 living in the household. You may also add a PLUS to any of these membership levels. This allows for free admission for one unnamed guest per visit. The member must accompany the free guest.
Q: Can I give my membership to another person to use for a visit?
No. Memberships are non-transferable and are only valid for the adults and children (when applicable) listed on the membership card. If additional tickets are needed they may be purchased online, or at any of the Newport Mansions. For the protection of your membership investment, we ask that you provide photo ID to accompany your membership card. You may want to consider purchasing the PLUS upgrade that will allow you to bring one unnamed guest per visit with you.
Q: What if I already bought tickets, but want to become a Member?
That is easy. Whether it has been a few hours, or a few years, you can apply the amount paid for general admission tickets towards your new membership at any Newport Mansions location (limits apply). Make sure that you keep your tickets; you need to hand them in to apply the value toward a membership.
Q: Can I upgrade my Membership to a higher level?
Yes, you can upgrade your membership to a higher level at any time during the membership year, or at the time of your membership renewal. You can do this in person at any Newport Mansion, or over the phone with the Membership Associate, 401-847-1000 ext. 111. Please provide the membership level you would like to upgrade to, the additional names (if applicable) on the membership card, and payment. Mail this information to The Preservation Society of Newport County Membership Office, 424 Bellevue Avenue, Newport RI 02840.
Q: How do I get a replacement membership card?
If you happen to visit without your membership card, any ticket booth at a Newport Mansions property can print a temporary card for your use. If you have lost your card and would like a replacement card mailed, please email the Membership Office at firstname.lastname@example.org , or call the Membership Associate at (401) 847-1000 ext.111. A replacement card will arrive in the mail within 1-2 weeks. We do not replace guest passes.
Q: Are my membership dues tax deductible?
Standard Membership levels are fully tax deductible. Premium Membership tax deductibility varies; return to the membership page for tax deductibility amounts for each membership level.
