Founded in 1639, Newport was an important port city, a center of the slave trade, a fashionable resort and the summer home of the Gilded Age rich.

Founded in Reims in 1836, Maison Pommery is one of Champagne’s most iconic and innovative Houses, renowned for its pioneering spirit, distinctive style and enduring connection to art and culture. In 1874, Madame Louise Pommery revolutionized the Champagne world by creating the first commercially produced Brut Champagne, introducing a drier style that would fundamentally shape the future of the category. A visionary entrepreneur and patron of the arts, Madame Pommery also transformed the Maison’s historic Gallo-Roman chalk cellars into a unique architectural and cultural landmark. Today, this legacy of innovation continues through Experience Pommery #, the Maison’s contemporary art exhibition held within its historic cellars. Bringing together monumental contemporary artworks and the extraordinary underground galleries of Reims, the exhibition creates a dialogue between Champagne, architecture and contemporary creativity. More than a Champagne House, Maison Pommery embodies a pioneering vision where heritage, innovation and art meet, continuing Madame Pommery’s spirit of breaking conventions and creating new experiences around Champagne.

To mark the U.S. Semiquincentennial, "Revolution Reimagined: Evolving Stories from Newport’s Past" explores Newport’s vital role in the American Revolution through the lens of myth and memory. Exhibition is included with admission to Rosecliff.

This November, the Newport Symposium offers a series of lectures and tours examining the origins and legacy of art, architecture, landscape and design in the United States. Registration is now open.
Jeff Curtis, Director of Gardens & Landscapes, will provide a tour of the greenhouse and discuss how the work done there provides thousands of bedding plants and cut flowers for our historic properties.

A Newport Songbook brings Newport’s musical heritage to life through 19th-century performances, local composers and songs connected to the city’s theaters, salons and celebrated residents.

This outdoor spectacle of holiday lights will dazzle and delight you! The 13-acre landscape of The Breakers turns into a wonderland of color and light. Includes access to the lavishly decorated rooms inside the house. Open on select evenings through the season. Includes access to The Breakers interior during the same visit. *Timed admissions every half-hour from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. House and ground will close at 8:00 pm.*
