1.  Please read the General Rules.

2.  Classes are open to everyone. Advance registration is required by April 15, 2010, using the registration form.

      a. Registration forms for classes 1-5 shall be mailed, or the information requested should be emailed to Gail H. Cyr

      b. Registration forms for classes 6-10 shall be mailed, or the information requested should be emailed to Kate Lucey.


3.  An exhibitor may enter only one photograph in the entire Photography Division.

4.  If there are more than 6 entries per class received by the committee, the classes will be juried by a panel of photography judges to select the six (6) top award-winning entries per class for final entry into the Newport Flower Show where they will be eligible for the final judging.

5.  Photographs that have won a blue ribbon in a major flower show may not be entered in competition again.  Photographs that have been previously entered, but have not won a blue ribbon, may be re-entered if altered and remounted.

6. The photographs must be the work of the exhibitor. Matting, mounting and printing may be done professionally.

7.  Any manipulation at the time of exposure, in the darkroom, by computer, or in the printing process is allowed in all classes and must be the work of the exhibitor.  This includes cropping of the image, enhancement for color or clarity, removal of a part of the image, combining images, or distorting the original subject.

8.  All photographs must include plant material, except for classes 1 and 2.

9.  If plant material in the image is identifiable, the common and botanical name(s) are required on the back of the photograph.

10. Photographs must be mounted on mat board or foam core and over-matted with an overlay mat with outside dimensions of 11” x 14”.  The color of the mat and the surface finish of the photograph is the choice of the exhibitor.

11. Glass and framing are not permitted.

12. Each entry must be labeled on the back of the mount with the following information:

     a. Class entered 
     b. Exhibitor’s name 
     c. Garden club as applicable
     d. Address
     e. Phone number and e-mail
     f. Plant material identification

     The top of the photograph must be indicated.

13. Photographs will be hung on a cream-colored wall.

14. Photographs must be received no later than May 15, 2010.

15. If you wish to receive your entry back after the show, photographs should be mailed with a self-addressed return envelope, packing material, and return postage (via Priority Mail). Whether exhibited or not, all entries to be returned will be mailed at the conclusion of the show.

16. All photographs will be passed by the Photography Committee to verify that all class specifications have been met. If the photographs do not meet specifications, or are not matted correctly, they will be returned to the exhibitor for correction, and the newly matted photograph must be returned prior to May 28, 2010 or their entry space will be lost.

17. The Photography Committee may reclassify an entry, but only with the permission of the photographer.  The Photography Committee and the judges may sub-divide a class but the judges may not reclassify an entry.
