Miranda Peters, Collections Manager, The Preservation Society of Newport County

The Preservation Society’s Archival Collection of prints, drawings, photographs, letters, and journals is a valuable resource for both scholars and Preservation Society staff. Ms. Peters is currently working to thoroughly document and re-house all of these materials. During this process, she has worked with many treasures which will help inform conservation and restoration efforts, research projects, and our understanding of the cultural, social, and architectural history of Newport. This illustrated lecture will highlight several of these pieces, including rare views of The Elms garden, a collection of photos from the filming of The Great Gatsby (1974), and a photo album documenting the construction of The Breakers.

Free to Preservation Society members. Non-members, $5.  Advance reservations requested, call (401) 847-1000 ext. 160, or register online.
